Whoever despises his neighbor is a sinner, but blessed is he who is generous to the poor.

Proverbs 14:21 ESV

The Lord loves to see a generous heart. A generous heart mimics the heart of the Lord. He generously gave us salvation after we sinned against Him, He postpones His judgment, and holds back the depravity of the world. We must mimic the Lord in His generosity. Seek to give; it may not be money but even better your time and love.

Extended Version

One’s financial status does not define their relationship with God. What you do with the riches that God has given you speaks to what defines your relationship with God. If your money is used to show your love for God by giving to the poor, then that is a noble act. If you are financially lacking and cannot spare to share, you don’t have to worry. God cares for you. He sees your struggle and never turns a blind eye to it. God is looking at the heart of all men, rich or poor.

Lord, I ask that you help me be like you. Let me find ways to be generous to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
